...made by the community! :giggle:

If you didn't notice, I tried to make the dA logo, :dalogo:.

This was the longest taking EMTC entry I've ever made. I'm pretty about how it turned out. It took about 4/5 hours to make, and there's about 148 emotes on there :faint:

Some of them are pretty similar, and some of them are the same [and they're having staring contests]. One of my favourites is the one with the mustashe :giggle:

I might add some more later, before the deadline.

EMTC by SparklyDest, if you're wondering.

...I made it 12x13 instead of 12x12, a mistake on my part. Otherwise it would've saved me about 12 emotes to draw.

I come home from school and lookie here, I've gotten a DD! Well then, this is a big surprise.

That...I couldn't tell what that was until I read that it was the DA logo. I don't care if the cooperate has LOLFella make you tea and pleasure your booty hole for making this--it may have been kind of a good idea but the execution is poor.

Just...mind my temper. If the joke about butt hole surfing offends you than I sincerely apologize--aside from that I take back nothing. I am going hard on you for two reasons--one being because I'm angry and two; being because I care.

I'm getting mad here, I'll admit...Gonna try and calm down...

You see that little red mofo kind of centered around the dark green--the one with the hearts that catches your eye first aside from the rest of the piece. It's too bright to go right there, it's taking a lot away from the light green and that is probably where the source of the issue with this piece is or, at least, the issue I can pinpoint with the most certainty.

Also, you could've gone much much further with the piece aside from sticking to two fucking colors. Come on now--you are entering a contest here and I know a lot of people in the comments are expressing a great liking towards it but I have to say, with the lack of color values applied, anyone who's not absorbed into the DeviantART hype is going to find this pretty hard to comprehend into a shape as well as a little boring.

I'm going to suggest you find a way to incorporate white into the piece and mess around with embroidering it so it doesn't all appear to be one color and looks as though there is a shape within the piece. Actually, it may have been better for you to use the lighter green as the base and the darker one for the shape of the letter so the darker color would appear in the contrast (?)

Still, if I were you, I'd stick with the colors light green, dark green, and try to pluck out that pesky little red guy who thinks he's the center of the piece because I swear, even reading the comments it took me a bit to see that it was the logo.

Gonna hope you bypassed my language for the meat of this--I know I'm coming off a bit brash but I'm trying to help and inform you that this piece you've made is kind of confusing.

That is one of the best critiques I have seen, I have to agree with you on that - I did not know it was the DA logo either. But the way you set out the critique was helpful and funny at the same time.

No, it's fine. I don't mind sarcasm and jokes. The logo is a bit hard to see, I realize that.

Actually, I thought that the bits of red were distracting myself. It's bright compared to dA's dull greens. In most contests, I'm one of those people who usually get their inspiration at the last minute, and by the time I thought about it, it was minutes before the deadline. And at that point I was already running out of faces and used whatever I thought at the time. I also felt that without the red, it wouldn't have the same effect with the face. Although, using a duller color might have helped.

I would have liked to change the value in the colors, but again, I was pressed for time, and was unable to shade each emote individually.

White? That would have been interesting. It would be less distracting than attention-grabbing red.

I was actually thinking about re-making this piece, because even though it was the hardest emoticon I've worked on, I do feel as if I could have done better.

I don't mind the language, since you were straightforward. Thank you for the critique, and if I do end up re-making it, I'll take your ideas into consideration!
Comowus Featured By Owner Jun 8, 2013  Hobbyist General Artist that case, you're welcome.

Also, a bit of a tip--it helps to sketch it out first before you put it together, just to get an idea of what you're doing. Just...sort of like concept art or something--to figure out what goes where.

I'm glad that helped though.
