A Fright in the Night

One year on All Hallows' Eve,
My candy I did retrieve.
I went and said my "Trick or Treat"s,
Scared everyone out of their seats,
And after giving a fright I did leave.

The last house I stood in front of,
Taking off my costume's glove.
No one was in, without a doubt,
But suddenly something jumped out!
Falling on me from above.

I ran far away,
I thought I was its prey,
Trembling from that mysterious thing,
Its bloody song it started to sing.
Hearing it forced me to stay.

It was definitely long,
Then it stopped it's song.
It started to scream,
Its eyes started to gleam.
It grabbed my arm and its grip was strong.

I wrenched out of its grip,
On my feet, I did trip.
I was slow, I was,
Not from the trip, because,
A part of my costume, it did rip.

On a tree branch, it did.
Down the hill, I slid.
My dog did roam,
He took me home.
And I prayed that if this ever happened again, the devil would forbid.
